This beautiful example of a mid-century home, was up until recently the residence of the original architect Harry Ernst who designed it in 1968. A strong collaboration with the new owners Andrew and Eliza, Bower Architecture and Interiors and Fiona Brockhhoff Design created a light and warm, faithfully restored and renovated courtyard home.
This project is truly innovative in its ability to transcend the site's size limitations. It delivers a sense of space and variety of experience throughout, comfortably creating a 3-bedroom home on a single bedroom workers cottage site. Whilst compact design is common in big cities, the typical belief that bigger is better still dominates the Australia mentality. This project delivers a highly sophisticated palette within a well resolved sequence of spaces.
